Sedimented Seconds
This tabletop timekeeper functions as a clock, a phone stand, and a wireless charger. When docked, the phone becomes the clock's digital face; when removed, the object remains an organic stone sculpture.

I knew early on that I wanted to incorporate a phone, given how active and relevant that market is. I was particularly drawn to the idea of the iPhone itself becoming the clock face. From this, I explored the concept of a sculptural phone holder—an object that could sit on a nightstand or desk and function as both a charging stand and a decorative piece when the phone is not in use.

I layered a mixture of textured spray paints to replicate the natural gravel rock feeling and look. I tried to make some parts thicker and leave some holes to keep it as natural as possible.

Objective: create a timekeeping device for the mass market
02
Modeled in SolidWorks, the design evolved through iterative refinement to achieve a form that felt convincingly natural. I focused on creating subtle divots, irregularities, and surface scratches to reinforce the appearance of carved stone, allowing the object to read as a rock sculpture rather than a purely digital form.

I wanted the Iphone face to complete the form of the stone and then once you dock it into the sculpture the rock crumbles in a fun little animation where it reveals the time. the animation only takes place when the phone magnetically attaches to the wireless charger, like Apples Standby mode, so once its docked the time will just show like a regular digital face. I drew story boards and used a combination of Figma and Capcut to make the animation.
